Colour Temperature

Colour temperature is measured in Kelvin (K) – the lower the number, the warmer the white light appears, while a higher Kelvin will appear cooler. Colour temperature generally ranges from 2700-3300K (warm) to 3300-5300 (cool) – and 6500K is daylight.

Equivalent Wattages Between Different Light Bulbs

As long as the technology developed, a LED light bulb can only use 8 watt power but light up similar brightness when a incandescent light bulb uses 60 watt power. There is equivalent wattage between different light bulbs. To stop making confuse, you need to know what wattage equivalent to each other. See the table attached as below.

Check table chart

This Philips Standard A55 GLS incandescent bulb has frosted glass that obscures the filament compared with clear glass. Its compact design provides 2700K warm white light with a 610lm output and features an E27 Edison screw cap.

Rated at 230V and 60W, the bulb measures 55mm in diameter and 95mm in overall length, with a rated average life of 1,000 hours. Match the voltage to the intended supply and use a complete fitting approved for a 60W incandescent lamp, with suitable heat tolerance, ventilation and clearance. Check both per-lamp and total load limits in multi-lamp fittings. If dimming, use an incandescent-rated control suitable for the lamp and supply, and check its minimum and maximum total connected load, including every lamp controlled together. Switch off power and let the bulb cool before replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this Philips 60W frosted bulb with a dimmer?

Yes, this bulb is dimmable. Use an incandescent-rated control suitable for the lamp and supply. Check its minimum and maximum total connected load, counting this 60W bulb and every other lamp controlled together.

Will this compact A55 bulb fit my E27 light fitting?

Check that the fitting requires an E27 Edison screw bulb, supports a 230V 60W incandescent lamp and has clearance for the 55mm diameter and 95mm overall length. Follow the complete fitting's heat tolerance, ventilation and clearance requirements. In multi-lamp fittings, check both per-lamp and total load limits. E27 does not fit E14 or B22 sockets.

Shining happily now. Phillips GLS Incandescent E27 230v 60 watt, frost.

I love going back to the old incandescent light bulbs. They should be the new normal instead of everyone sitting under the LED lights that certainly leave me feeling like l'm about to have a fit. Why should l have to wear dark glasses to try and cope with them. So relieved to have been able to find these and they works brilliant.
