Frequently Asked Questions

What types of products does Brasshards make?

Brasshards manufactures a range of threaded brass plumbing fittings including hex nipples (straight and reducing), hex sockets, tees, caps, plugs, male/female reducing adaptors, and compression elbows in brass and chrome finishes across 10mm to 25mm sizes. They also produce all-directional shower heads in chrome and gold finishes.

What is a hex nipple and what is it used for?

A hex nipple is a short threaded fitting with male threads on both ends and a hexagonal centre section, used to connect two female-threaded fittings together. Brasshards hex nipples are available in brass and chrome finishes across 15mm, 20mm, and 25mm sizes, and are commonly used in water supply, gas, and general plumbing applications.

What is the difference between a straight nipple and a reducing nipple?

A straight hex nipple has the same thread size on both ends and is used to join two fittings of the same size. A reducing hex nipple has different thread sizes on each end, allowing you to connect fittings of different sizes — for example, transitioning from a 20mm pipe to a 15mm fitting. Brasshards offers reducing nipples in 10x6mm, 15x10mm, 20x15mm, and 25x20mm configurations.

Are Brasshards fittings suitable for drinking water (potable water) applications?

Brasshards brass fittings are designed for use in water supply applications. For potable water installations, always confirm the product's compliance with AS/NZS 4020 (products in contact with drinking water) by checking the product datasheet or packaging. Installation of plumbing fittings in water supply systems must be carried out by a licensed plumber in Australia.

What finishes are available for Brasshards shower heads and fittings?

Brasshards products are available in natural brass, chrome-plated, and gold finishes depending on the product. The all-directional shower heads are available in both chrome (15SH422CL) and gold (15SH422GL) finishes. Hex nipples and tees are available in both brass and chrome-plated options. Check individual product listings for available finishes.

Expect good results from this silver cleaner

Old tried and true polish that my grandmother used to clean her silver. I have tried other brands and I have found Goddard to be the best.

Scissors you will use for multiple tasks

These small scissors are so handy they should be in everyone’s utensil drawer. They are great for unpicking stitches, trimming off dead leaves and buds on plants and doing absolutely any job that requires a small blade. I love them I had a pair that I lost and now I have replaced them.
